There was a time, not so long ago, that I had no clue what meaningful meant to me. I don't want to get too inception on you, but the meaning of meaningful is something that gives you meaning. Which makes sense, but do you know what that mean to you? If you still follow me, read along.
Are you sure?
To be clear, in my quest of creating meaningful work I've found nothing more valuable than define my own definition of meaningful. Meaningful is something which give me meaning, but also something I provide meaning for. This is a subtle and dual interaction. To make this more practical, I've tinkered down this abstract theme into five words that are import in my life and guide me in my everyday decisions. Originality. Freedom. Love. Growth. Adventure. Whatever I do, if it fall under one of these categories, it will provide me with meaning.
What is meaningful to you?
When was the last time you really thought about what was meaningful to you? Really? Did you wrote it down? Do you understand what these words actually mean to you? If not, you may get lost in your search for meaningful work. Because if you don't know where you are going, you will never get there. But more importantly, if you don't know if you're on the right track, you'll wont enjoy your ride. And that's more important than anything else.
